Guo WenjingOn 23rd May Guo’s opera for four singers, choir and orchestra, Poet Li Bai, opens the CinaviCina Festival of the Fondazione Musica per Roma conducted in collaboration with ‘Contemporanea’, the Contemporary Music Programme. The story told in the libretto, written by Diana Liao, takes place in China and deals with the poet Li Bai, who lived in the VIII century under the Tang dynasty. In an attempt to find a solution to the meaning of life the poet, who lives in exile on a barge, engages in an introspective conversation with his alter egos: wine and the moon. The performance by the Shanghai Opera, after stopovers in Denver and Peking, will be an European premiere.
