For a year now, Ricordi Berlin has been working together with the three new ricordilab composers Hannah Kendall, Alex Paxton, and Diana Syrse, who have already celebrated great concert successes and important prizes. There are now further significant premieres on the horizon:

Diana Syrse: Quetzalcóatl with Musikkollegium Winterthur

Musikkollegium Winterthur, associated partner of ricordilab, opens its new season with Diana Syrse's new work Quetzalcóatl. The composer says:

This work combines two parallel stories that converge into a shared experience – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, an Austrian man and myself, a Mexican woman, both young composers who are writing music in different periods of time and space. He and I come together in the exploration of music as a means to express the profound pain of a lost love and the internal transformation it entails. Inspired by Mozart's Symphony No. 40 and my own life experiences, I conceive this musical piece as a counterpoint and dialogue, dedicated to the constant reinvention of beauty [...]

Hannah Kendall: O flower of fire with the London Symphony Orchestra

Alex Paxton: New work for the WDR Sinfonieorchester

After Alex Paxton received the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation’s composition and Hindemith prizes this summer, the WDR Sinfonieorchester presents the German premiere of Od Ody Pink‘d and the world premiere of a new orchestral work from the exceptional British composer, with himself and Jennifer Walshe as soloists, and works from Frank Zappa in the same program.
