Ambrosini awarded with The Golden Lion for the Music of the Present
The 51st International Festival of Contemporary Music, Oltre la linea, directed by Giorgio Battistelli, came to an end on Saturday 13 October. The Golden Lion for the Music of the Present has been awarded to Claudio Ambrosini for his work Plurimo (per Emilio Vedova).

This year among its various activities the Associazione In Canto in Narni has commissioned the Milan composer Carlo Boccadoro to write an opera. The subject comes from one of the great literary classics for teenagers: the new opera in one act, Robinson. The world premiere will take place in Amelia at the Teatro Sociale on 18th November.
Ferrero in Palermo
The Teatro Massimo in Palermo has commissioned Lorenzo Ferrero to write a two-act ballet, Franca Florio, regina di Palermo. The premiere will take place on 21st November with additional performances on 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th and 27th.

Riccardo Chailly conducts the original version of Puccini’s opera Manon Lescaut in Casa Ricordi’s new critical edition edited by Roger Parker. The opera will be performed at the Teatro dell’Opera in Leipzig from 9th May (additional performances on 11th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 24th and 28th May). As stage director, alongside the conductor Riccardo Chailly, will be Giancarlo Del Monaco, while the part of Manon will be sung alternately by Sondra Radvanowski and Francesca Patané. Teddy Rhodes will sing Lescaut and Alexandrs Antonenko will be Des Grieux.

On 9th May the network Mediaset will transmit the television film Aldo Moro, the President based on the life of the statesman killed in 1978 by the Red Brigades. The music soundtrack for the film is by Marco Betta, who returns for a second time to the television world after the success of Maria Montessori in 2007.
