Among the very rich documentation left by Giacomo Puccini, today preserved in the Historical Archives of the Villa-Museum in Torre del Lago, the correspondences hold a particular value. The dense epistolary network woven by Giacomo with friends, relatives and collaborators constitutes a valuable testimony for the reconstruction of his life and the creative process related to his works. But it also restores a more confidential and everyday view of the artist and his correspondents, often bringing shedding light on previously unseen aspects of their intimacy and their personality. The series of the Carteggi publishes documents – that have remained largely unknown – of Puccini’s most important and significant interlocutors. It stems from a project that makes it possible to enrich the biographical, historical and artistic knowledge relating to Giacomo Puccini, his works, the professional environment and the everyday dimension in which he operated.
