Dai Fujikura is appointed “Composer in Residence” of the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra starting in April 2014. The term of the residency will be three seasons, until the end of March 2017. He will be the first artist to be Composer in Residence in the 48-year-history of the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra.

During his residence, Dai Fujikura is commissioned to compose a new song cycle, works for orchestra and a concerto. The Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra will also perform existing works of Mr. Fujikura.

The relationship between Dai Fujikura and the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra began in 2009, when the orchestra played the Japanese Premiere of the piano concerto AMPERE. Since then the NPO and its principal conductor Martyn Brabbins have performed multiple works of Dai Fujikura.
