Now available at UMPC: Lior Navok
We are pleased to announce an exclusive agreement with composer Lior Navok. With immediate effect, the UMP group will administer and deliver all of his works for stage and hire.
Lior Navok, born in 1971, currently resides in Tel Aviv after extensive residencies in the US and Germany. He writes music as a way of communication—of collaboration with individuals and interaction with ubiquitous themes of our world. Navok’s language is sensual but modern, imbued with either personal or political messages. Accessible yet masterfully orchestrated, his works build bridges: generational, historical, and cultural.
Working with both ensembles and soloists, Navok utilizes music as a way of reflecting on some of humanity’s darker sides: his oratorio And the trains kept coming…
examines the horrors of the Holocaust, while his opera adaptation of a Chekhov short story The Bet
presents an acerbic commentary on capitalism and imprisonment. At the same time, Navok has also explored the fantastic realms of childhood imagination with his musical adaptations of fairytale stories, including Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio
and Andersen’s The Little Mermaid
