Puccini: Critical Editions Agreement

Puccini: Critical Editions Agreement

On Tuesday, June 25 the Simonetta Puccini Foundation for Giacomo Puccini and Casa Ricordi signed an agreement for the study and publishing rights to Giacomo Puccini manuscript material that is owned by the Foundation.

Created by Simonetta Puccini, the composer’s granddaughter, the Foundation manages her portion of the Puccini estate and promotes the study and knowledge of Puccini’s work. The Foundation currently operates Villa Museo at Torre del Lago, once Giacomo Puccini’s home, which is slated to become an international study center.

The Puccini manuscripts Ricordi will have access to make up an important body of musical sketches and notes, indispensable to Ricordi’s continuation of the project for the publication of the Critical Editions of the Operas of Giacomo Puccini.

Following the publication of Manon Lescaut, set for release are Le Villi, in both the one- and two-act versions, and Edgar, which will also include all the extant versions.

Over the next 15 years, collaboration between the Simonetta Puccini Foundation and Casa Ricordi will allow us to complete the Critical Editions of the Operas of Giacomo Puccini.
