Per moto contrario: Battistelli's autobiography

Published by Libreria Musicale Italiana, Per moto contrario. Autobiografia in forma di conversazione represents the first work in which Battistelli expresses himself in definitive terms about his production and in a prismatic manner about the different facets of his existence: his musical production, his artistic direction, but also his studies, training and privileged contact with important personalities of composers, artists and intellectuals who marked his path and forged his temperament.

In this autobiography in the form of a conversation, Giorgio Battistelli tells his story and opens a window on his life, revealing with an overwhelming flow aspects of his artistic and personal trajectory. From frank reflections on the topicality of music in Italy starting with the recent Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement, awarded to him in September 2022, to a journey through images and anecdotes in his childhood and youth, to first-person recollections of decisive figures of the second half of the musical twentieth century and beyond, Battistelli's autobiographical narrative, offered in the form of a cadenced and rhythmic dialogue with Salvatore Sclafani - a young musician who listened to and reported on the story - invites the reader to get up close and personal with the composer's workshop and, at the same time, to experience face-to-face the history of contemporary music.
