Freedom and Responsibility: An Editorial Challenge

Luigi Nono

In the early 1990s, soon after Luigi Nono’s death, Casa Ricordi focused its attention on publishing compositions with live electronics. At the initiative of Mimma Guastoni and Luciana Pestalozza, and with the support of Nuria Schoenberg Nono, a specific editorial committee was created, including, among others, André Richard, Alvise Vidolin, Jürg Stenzl, and Marco Mazzolini. The new edition makes available to performers and scholars scores equipped with all the necessary technical and performance information. The project will conclude with the publication of Guai ai gelidi mostri (2025) and Caminantes ... Ayacucho (2026).
This initiative has been accompanied since 2000 by a project to recover, preserve and restore the works for and with magnetic tape. The project, conducted in collaboration with Laboratorio Mirage (University of Udine) and Rai in Milan, was completed in 2010.
