Symphonic music for Grand Occasions

2022 opens with new symphonic creations for grand occasions. The excitement kicks off with world premieres of works by Giorgio Battistelli and Carlo Boccadoro, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the founding of Filarmonica della Scala in Milano. From there, we move onto Florence and a performance of Luca Francesconi’s Per lo corpo luce, a work conceived for Maggio Musicale Fiorentino’s new Zubin Mehta Hall. Next stop: Rome, for Claudio Ambrosini’s Dosana nova, commissioned by the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in honor of the composer’s recent prestigious appointment as a fellow.

This spring marks the 50th anniversary of the Berlin Philharmonic’s Karajan Academy with a new Concert for cello by Donghoon Shin. That performance will be followed up by a new symphonic work by Georg Friedrich Haas, which takes inspiration from the International Conference for the Standard Tuning Tone, held in Vienna in 1885.
