Graham Fitkin: World Premiere by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic
Intimate Curve, the newest orchestral work by Graham Fitkin, will be premiered by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra on May 7, 2015. The work was a commission for the orchestra's 175th anniversary. Fitkin was asked to write a ‘concerto for orchestra’ and it resulted in a piece that “focuses on various solo instruments, instrumental groups and sections of the orchestra whilst gradually piecing them together into one large mass”.
From 1994 until 1997, Graham Fitkin used to be Composer-in-Residence with the orchestra. During this period, he wrote six pieces for them (Metal, Henry, Granite, Bebeto, Graf and Length).
