New Opera Catalogue of Giuseppe Verdi

Casa Ricordi presents the new operatic catalogue of Giuseppe Verdi

Casa Ricordi announces the release of a new operatic catalogue dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi, a practical and comprehensive tool designed to support theatres, conductors, scholars and professionals in the discovery and programming of the great Italian composer’s works.

The catalogue brings together all versions of Verdi’s operas available for hire, from critical editions – published in co-edition with The University of Chicago Press – to traditional scores and revised versions, as well as reduced-orchestration versions from the OperaLite series. This wide range of options is conceived to meet the needs of different production contexts, from major opera houses to smaller ensembles.

Each work published in a critical edition is accompanied by a detailed description of the main differences compared to the traditional versions, highlighting additional arias, instrumental variants and changes to the dramaturgical structure. Where applicable, alternative performing versions of the same work are also indicated.

Particular attention is devoted to transcriptions for reduced orchestra (from 16 to 21 players, with the possibility of expansion), which open up new programming opportunities and make Verdi’s repertoire accessible to an ever-growing number of artistic realities around the world.

The catalogue is available in digital format and can also be requested in print, confirming its role as an essential reference tool for those approaching Verdi’s universe with both musicological rigour and production flexibility.
