Adam Schoenberg: Among Top 10 US Living Composers; Grammy-nominated Album
Adam Schoenberg was named among the Top 10 most performed living classical composers in the US in a
national survey of 89 orchestras published by the Baltimore Symphony. A noteworthy achievement for any composer, it is even more remarkable considering Schoenberg is only 35 years old. Among his principal orchestral works are
Finding Rothko,
American Symphony, and
Picture Studies, recently performed by orchestras including the Buffalo Philharmonic, Fort Worth Symphony, Phoenix Symphony, and San Diego Symphony.
Nadia Shpachenko's album
Woman at the New Piano, featuring Adam Schoenberg's
Pictures Etudes (for piano solo) and
Bounce (for two pianos), has just been nominated for three Grammys in the categories Producer of the Year, Best Chamber Music, and Best Classical Compendium.
Adam Schoenberg's next recording will be a portrait album on the same label (Reference Recordings) with the Kansas City Symphony due to be released in spring 2016. It will include the orchestra version of
Picture Etudes called
Picture Studies, as well as his orchestra works
American Symphony and
Finding Rothko.
