National premieres of Marco Momi in December
December 3 marks the German premiere of Marco Momi’s Almost Close, for piano and transducers, performed by Malgorzata Walentynowicz at the contemporary music series ON - Neue Musik in Köln; Momi’s quintet for piano, strings and electronics entitled UNRISEN premieres in Italy on December 22, featuring pianist Mariangela Vacatello and the Quartetto Prometeo at Bergamo’s Donizetti Theater.
UNRISEN made its world premiere in June 2016 at the MANI-FEST festival in Paris.
Born in Perugia, Italy, in 1978, Marco Momi’s musical education included piano, conducting and composition. He lived in Paris 2007-2010, where he was enrolled at IRCAM. His compositions have been recognized internationally, and have received awards at numerous competitions, including the Gaudeamus Music Prize, the Seoul International Competition, Impuls - Klangforum Wien, the Reading Panel IRCAM-EIC, and in 2008 he won the City of Darmstadt’s Kranichsteiner Music Prize. He has been composer in residence at Berlin’s Akademie der Künste, the Banna Spinola Foundation, and for the Divertimento Ensemble.
Momi writes for the blog www.nuthing.eu which he co-founded. He began working with Casa Ricordi in 2015.
