'Piero Farulli International Competition’: the winners
The Piero Farulli International Competition for Junior String Quartets had its start in 2015. Its aim is to expand the almost nonexistent repertoire for young and very young string players, providing incentives and guiding them in the making of ensemble music through the languages that mark today’s music scene.
This year’s edition, sponsored by the Piero Farulli Association in conjunction with the Tuscany Regional Orchestra, has established two prizes of equal value:
(section A) for scores dedicated to very young quartets, up to the fifth year of technical difficulty
(section B) for compositions at the preprofessional level
Winners of the second edition: Amari’s by Matteo Sugan (for section A), and Zoom by Cesare Rolli (for section B).
The winning pieces are published by Casa Ricordi.
