Shin wins Claudio Abbado Composition Prize 2022
Donghoon Shin will be awarded the prestigious Claudio Abbado Composition Prize of the Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2022. As the winner, Shin has been commissioned to write a cello concerto for the 50th anniversary of the Karajan Academy. The world premiere in May 2022 will be given by the solo cellist of the Berliner Philharmonic, Bruno Delepelaire, and musicians from the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Karajan Academy, conducted by Kirill Petrenko.

What’s more, the ricordilab-laureate is looking forward to further exciting projects: At Kulturpalast Dresden on July 6th, Ensemble Mediterrain will present the German premiere of his work
The Hunter‘s Funeral. Next year sees two world premieres on the line up: A violin concerto for the Pannon Philharmonic and Kristof Barati, and a new orchestral work for the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Seoul Philharmonic, and the Bamberg Symphony.
