Il 3 ottobre la nuova stagione autunnale della Staatsoper di Berlino ha aperto con il debutto della versione tedesca di Quartett (2010) di Luca Francesconi. Sul podio Daniel Barenboim, che dirige la nuova produzione della regista Barbara Wysocka, con le scene di Barbara Hanicka e i costumi di Julia Kornacka. Mojca Erdmann e Thomas Oliemans sono la Marquise de Merteuil e il Vicomte de Valmont.

«Berlino, Müller, Barenboim con tutta la sua generosità ed entusiasmo e la storica Staatsoper, l’IRCAM che mi sostiene sempre nell’avventura di Quartett in tutto il mondo, ormai 90 volte! Emozione per essere qui con le parole bellissime di Müller nella sua lingua, nella sua città. Per l’ammirazione che ho di lui è veramente una sensazione fortissima. E la qualità degli interpreti è fenomenale». Così il compositore commenta questa seconda genesi dell’opera. La presenza di Francesconi a Berlino continua anche nelle settimane successive, alla Boulez Saal, con la prima esecuzione assoluta di Jeu di Musica e la prima tedesca di Moscow Run, Sans e Insieme II, sempre sotto l’egida di Daniel Barenboim.

Barbara Wysocka, who sends cold shivers down the spine in the face of the current ecological, economic and social dystopias of our world, staged this ex-couple in such relatable normality that makes Müller's verbal lashes almost unbearable. The emotional horror even overflows and floods further when Francesconi's quietly collapsing relationship turn carnal.
