Alex Paxton wins Ernst von Siemens Composer's Prize
ricordilab laureate Alex Paxton receives one of three Composers Prizes by the renowned Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation. The British composer and improvising trombonist manages to marry the best of three worlds: Classical music, jazz and pop. “Alex transfers his playful desire to improvise into his compositions and writes refined, passionate music full of pulsating energy and stylistic diversity”, says the foundation. Endowed with 35,000 EUR, this is Alex’ second award over the course of two months. It was only last December that Alex received the Hindemith Prize, following his ricordilab colleague Hannah Kendall who won the prize in 2021.
Congratulations, dear Alex!
