Swedish composer Lisa Streich joined Ricordi Berlin through ricordilab and is currently enjoying great success with her new orchestral works. In February, the composer celebrated the world premiere of her work FLÜGEL at the Elbphilharmonie Visions festival. This was followed by BALLHAUS, which was created for Staatsoper Hannover as part of the "more than music" series. In June of this year, Streich's work ISHJÄRTA will be premiered by the Berliner Philharmoniker under Kirill Petrenko.

BALLHAUS was created for the Hanover State Opera and its "more than music" concert series – a collaboration between Streich and Austrian visual artist Markus Schinwald. "I feel a huge melancholy and a disaster that is present all the time, that one feels all of the time, but that can be displaced by all of the distractions that are out there. And it is this phenomenon that the piece tries to capture. It is the capture of the feeling of life, not amessage. It is an attempt to pick up the moment, amplify it, and maybe turn it into theabsurd." (Lisa Streich, interview Hanover State Opera program booklet)

Alan Gilbert and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester premiered FLÜGEL at the Elbphilharmonie Visions festival in February 2023 – a commission from the Claussen-Simon-Stiftung. Lisa Streich sees the orchestra "as a structure that consists of a centre with wings to the right and to the left. When I was writing, that was my common thread; what do wings do in order to float, so that they can fly? They have to always keep tensing and releasing." (Lisa Streich, interview NDR Kultur)

"She paints pictures of sound. And one of the things she does is she uses the physicality, the actual geography of the orchestra to create waves of sound. [...] It's very personal and very unique and I really admire what she does as a composer."
Alan Gilbert, interview with NDR Kulturjournal, 25.01.2023

"Gilbert tells us before the premiere with his orchestra that he discovers sounds in it that he has never heard before."
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, 06.02.2023

"Orchestral music composed differently, thought younger."
