About I don't know how to cry
Haas' inspiration for
I don't know how to cry is the eponymous poem by Jill Carter that profoundly moved him:
"I will never forget the evening when Jill Carter recited her poem 'I don't know how to cry'. There were only four of us: Jill, me - and our wives Viola and Mollena. She had picked out just one detail from the abundance of horror: the profits of the gun industry are more important to US society than the lives of the many victims of mass shootings. But all the other horrors shimmered unspoken through her text. However, if we look as closely as she does, it turns out that even this one problem is so monstrous that even the tears dry up."
