Lim: 30 Jahre bei Ricordi – UA von Annunciation Triptych

Lim: 30 Jahre bei Ricordi – UA von Annunciation Triptych

30 years ago, programme booklets were still written with typewriters and Ricordi still had its own record label (Dischi Ricordi). It was also 30 years ago that Liza Lim first had works published by Ricordi – Garden of Earthly Desire and Voodoo Child – on the recommendation of conductor Sandro Gorli. While still in her early 20s, the Australian composer was already in demand internationally (1988-89 ISCM World Music Days in Hong Kong, Radio Bremen, Pittsburgh Music Lives) and was part of Melbourne’s lively music scene, working with the Elision ensemble and many other formations.

And today? She says: “It makes me happy that so many young musicians are finding my solo works and performing them all over the world.”

That makes us happy as well! We are specially looking forward to the many events happening in Europe.

But we’re also glad that she will still be in Berlin until summer 2022 as a Fellow of the Wissenschaftskolleg. And that she will be awarded the 2021 “Happy New Ears” composition prize in Munich. And that her orchestral Annunciation Triptych will have its world premiere in 2022 in Munich and Cologne. And that Patricia Kopatchinskaja will be performing Speak, Be Silent in Paris, that the Philharmonia Orchestra will play How Forests Think in London, that her operas and vocal works are finally documented on CD with the release of the collection Singing in Tongues, and, in case you missed it, that her piano concerto World as Love, World as Self recently had its world premiere in Donaueschingen.
