A year ago we announced the winners of our composition competition RicordiLab. What did change in the lifes of Sarah Nemtsov, Shiori Usui and Steffen Wick and what are their plans for the future?

 

In 2016, Luca Francesconi won a Royal Philharmonic Society Music Award for his violin concerto Duende. The Dark Notes. He was the first Italian composer to win the prestigious award. One year before, the performance of the work at the Proms was selected to be one of the top 10 classical music events in 2015 by the Guardian. Now the work will be performed in the United States for the first time.

Swiss-born Klaus Huber died aged 92 last Monday, 2 October 2017, in Perugia.

September 28 marks the world premiere of Ettore Majorana. Cronache d’infinite scomparse, featuring music by Roberto Vetrano, and libretto by Stefano Simone Pintor, at the Teatro Sociale, in Como. This opera revisits the story of Italian theoretical physicist Ettore Majorana 80 years after his disappearance.

On September 2, the Lucerne Festival presents the world premiere of Luca Francesconi’s Das Ding singt, for cello and orchestra, featuring soloist Jay Campbell. The Orchestra of the Lucerne Festival Academy will be conducted by Matthias Pintscher. The piece will be also performed in Köln on September 3 (Philharmonie).

Ricordi Berlin is delighted about the publication of eight new works by Gérard Zinsstag, continuing the long-term contractual relationship with the composer and a sign of the publisher’s continued confidence in Zinsstag, born in Geneva in 1941.
