Fabio Luisi conducts critical edition of Bellini

From 21 June to 12 July, the critical edition of Vincenzo Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, edited by Claudio Toscani, will be performed at the Zurich Opera House under the baton of Fabio Luisi. Performed for the first time in November 2000 at the Teatro Massimo in Catania, this edition of I Capuleti e i Montecchi was also staged in Hannover, London, Leipzig, Munich, Rome, Salzburg and Tokyo, among others.

Battistelli’s new opera at La Scala: Interview

The theme of Giorgio Battistelli’s new opera, CO2 – commissioned by the Teatro alla Scala and on stage from May 16 to 29 in Milan – is climate change. With a libretto in English written by Ian Burton and stage direction by Robert Carsen, the opera promises to be the most important event in La Scala’s EXPO season. Wiener Staatsoper commissions Olga Neuwirth

Olga Neuwirth is going to compose the opera Orlando for the Wiener Staatsoper, based on the homonymous novel by Virginia Woolf. The libretto will be written by the Franco-American author and playwright Catherine Filloux. Orlando is planned to be a through-composed opera in English for soloists, larger orchestra and choir with an approximate duration of 90 to 100 minutes (without break). The premiere is scheduled for December 2019.
