                            In November 2020, composers Philip Venables and Peter Eötvös were recognized internationally for their contributions to the operatic repertoire. 
Philip Venables' Denis & Katya awarded at The Ivors Composer Awards 2020
At this year's Ivors Composer Awards, Philip Venables received an Ivor Novello Award in the category "Stage Works" for his opera 
Denis & Katya. The commission by Opera Philadelphia, Music Theatre Wales and Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier convinced the judges as a work “incredibly skilful in its musical craft with exquisitely heard electronics”, “moving opera forward”.
