Award winners: Philip Venables and Peter Eötvös

In November 2020, composers Philip Venables and Peter Eötvös were recognized internationally for their contributions to the operatic repertoire. 

Philip Venables' Denis & Katya awarded at The Ivors Composer Awards 2020

At this year's Ivors Composer Awards, Philip Venables received an Ivor Novello Award in the category "Stage Works" for his opera Denis & Katya. The commission by Opera Philadelphia, Music Theatre Wales and Opéra Orchestre National Montpellier convinced the judges as a work “incredibly skilful in its musical craft with exquisitely heard electronics”, “moving opera forward”.

Peter Eötvös wins Golden Mask for Tri Sestry

The Ural Opera Ballet’s production of Eötvös‘ opera Tri Sestry in Yekaterinburg has been awarded twice at the Golden Mask Russian Performing Arts Festival and National Theatre Awards:
