Max Richter has signed a long-term, global publishing deal with Decca Publishing.

After making its world premiere at Milano’s La Scala Theater in April 2011, Luca Francesconi’s much acclaimed Quartett has been performed over 40 times in cities throughout Europe. Two performances of the opera are slated for May: one in Trento, Italy (May 5); and one at the Spoleto Festival USA (May 28), where the opera will be making its United States premiere. These performances will be directed by John Fulljames, Associate Director of Opera at the Royal Opera House, London. 

Mauro Lanza’s latest composition The 1987 Max Headroom Broadcast Incident for “augmented” string quartet will be making its world premiere on May 15 at the 'Friche la Belle de Mai Festival' in Marseille, France. It will be performed by Quatuor Diotima. The piece, dedicated to Fausto Romitelli.

On May 19 in Pinerolo, in the Province of Torino, Italy, Quartetto Maurice will be presenting a new composition by Marco Momi, entitled VUOI CHE I PASSI ACCADANO (You Want the Steps to Happen), for quartet and “performed” electronics.

The music publisher G Ricordi & Co. (London) Ltd. has signed Philip Venables, one of the most important young British composers. Performers and commissioners of his music include The Royal Opera, the BBC Philharmonic, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, Wigmore Hall and the London Sinfonietta.

Olga Neuwirth received the German Music Authors' Prize (Deutscher Musikautorenpreis) in the “symphonic composition” category.

Sarah Nemtsov’s music theatre work Sacrifice was premiered on March 05 in Halle (stage director: Florian Lutz, conductor: Michael Wendeberg).

In April 2017, the Houston Symphony and principal cellist Brinton Averil Smith will give the first professional performance of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Cello Concerto in the US since its premiere by the New York Philharmonic and Arturo Toscanini in 1935.
