Sarah Nemtsov’s music theatre work Sacrifice was premiered on March 05 in Halle (stage director: Florian Lutz, conductor: Michael Wendeberg).

Vinko Globokar‘s newest ensemble work Les Soliloques décortiqués was premiered on March 19, 2017 by Ensemble MusikFabrik and conductor Jean-Michaël Lavoie. Find out more in this interview with Florentin Ginot.

In April 2017, the Houston Symphony and principal cellist Brinton Averil Smith will give the first professional performance of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Cello Concerto in the US since its premiere by the New York Philharmonic and Arturo Toscanini in 1935.

Based on a story from the Book of Genesis, LOT, the latest opera by Giorgio Battistelli (with book by Jenny Erpenbeck), makes its world premiere at the Staatsoper Hannover on April 1. More performances will be staged there throughout the months of April and May. Orchestra and choir conducted by Mark Rohde. The opera is directed by Frank Hilbrich.

On March 27, at Genoa’s Teatro Carlo Felice, Maestro Vladimir Ashkenazy will be conducting I Solisti Aquilani in the world premiere of Francesco Antonioni’s Northern Lights, After the Thaw, for viola, clarinet and string orchestra. Featured soloists: Ada Meinich on viola, and Dmitri Ashkenazy on clarinet. A second performance will be held on March 28, at the Auditorium del Parco in L’Aquila.

Azio Corghi is a composer, musicologist and pedagogue. His works - which have been played and performed in the most prestigious international theatres and concert halls – include operas, ballets and pieces for instrumental (acoustical and electronic) and vocal groups. He has often availed himself of the collaboration of José Saramago for his opera texts.

On March 13, the Opéra national de Paris presents  the world premiere of Luca Francesconi’s Trompe-la-Mort after Honoré de Balzac . The libretto (by the composer) is in French. The two-act opera will be conducted by Susanna Mällki, The director is Guy Cassiers. Trompe-la-Mort has performances through April 5. It’s a commission by  Paris Opera.

The International Competition 'Giorgio Cambissa'  is dedicated to the concertos of the Italian composer, pedagogue and conductor Giorgio Cambissa (1921-1998). It will take place on 12, 13, 14 May 2017 at Auditorium of “Conservatoire Léo Delibes Clichy-la-Garenne (Paris).
