L’Inondation (The Flood), Francesco Filidei’s new opera makes its world premiere on September 27 at Opéra Comique in Paris.

Congratulations to Philip Venables for winning the 2019 FEDORA prize in the opera category for his stage work Denis & Katya. As revealed in the award ceremony on 28 June, the opera will receive €150,000 in funding for its world premiere at the Opera Philadelphia in the upcoming 2019/20 season. 

Running August 11-23 in Pesaro, it’s the 40th edition of ROF, the Rossini Opera Festival. 

On Tuesday, June 25 the Simonetta Puccini Foundation for Giacomo Puccini and Casa Ricordi signed an important agreement.

On July 26 the definitive version of Claudio Ambrosini’s Tancredi appresso il Combattimento (“Tancredi After the Battle”) will be performed at the Cantiere Festival in Montepulciano.

After the most recent staging of his chamber opera Bound in New York City, Huang Ruo is preparing for an upcoming orchestral premiere with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and an all-new opera at the Santa Fe Opera, M. Butterfly. 

The 2019 Eight Bridges Music Festival in Cologne featured a wide variety of new music performances and premieres, including works by Sergej Newski, Gerhard Stäbler, and Georg Friedrich Haas presented by Teodor Currentzis, Brad Lubman and Sylvain Cambreling.

On May 10, Enno Poppe’s new work for orchestra, Fett, had its world premiere in Finland with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Susanna Mälkki.

Coming June 22, it’s the world premiere of TOVEL ’s (Matteo Franceschini) OPUS, for amplified string quartet and live electronics, at La Scala Paris.
