The 2019 Eight Bridges Music Festival in Cologne featured a wide variety of new music performances and premieres, including works by Sergej Newski, Gerhard Stäbler, and Georg Friedrich Haas presented by Teodor Currentzis, Brad Lubman and Sylvain Cambreling.

On May 10, Enno Poppe’s new work for orchestra, Fett, had its world premiere in Finland with the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Susanna Mälkki.

Coming June 22, it’s the world premiere of TOVEL ’s (Matteo Franceschini) OPUS, for amplified string quartet and live electronics, at La Scala Paris.

The 62nd edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi gets underway in Spoleto, Italy this June 28 with the world premiere of Silvia Colasanti’s Proserpine. 

2019 marks the 25th Anniversary of Heiner Goebbels’ Surrogate Cities (1994), an interdisciplinary orchestral cycle for mezzo-soprano, speaker, sampler, and big orchestra, which premiered in Frankfurt in 1994.
