World Premiere of Philoktet by Odeh-Tamimi

The 2023 edition of Stuttgart’s ECLAT Festival was more than ever a festival of co-productions and inhouse creation. Among them was Samir Odeh-Tamimi’s world premiere of Philoktet, commissioned by Musik der Jahrhunderte, funded by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, and written for the Neue Vocalisten Stuttgart and the Zafraan Ensemble.

Cherubini's Medea

The Metropolitan Opera’s 2022-23 season opened with Sondra Radvanovsky’s electrifying performance as the titular character in Cherubini’s rarely performed Medea, a role previously made famous by Maria Callas. The Met’s first-ever production of the work featured the use of Flavio Testi’s revised edition of Cherubini’s score, and was led by Maestro Carlo Rizzi, with stage direction by David McVicar.
