Ghisi, Daniele

Born in Trescore Balneario (June 30, 1984), Daniele Ghisi takes in 2006 his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics at the University of Milano Bicocca, and studies Composition (since 1997) at the Istituto Musicale “Gaetano Donizetti”, in Bergamo, having Alberto Colla and Stefano Gervasoni as teachers.

He takes his Prix de Composition in 2007 with full marks and cum laude.  He takes part to several different seminars and master-classes, as the IEMA Seminar in Frankfurt with the Ensemble Modern in 2005, and the Royaumont ‘Voix Nouvelles’ session in 2006.
He comes back to Royaumont in 2008/2009 for the ‘Transforme’ session. He also writes music for theatre and for dance. He has won several competitions and prizes (Concorso “V. Bucchi”, “Rotary” Prize, “J.S. Mayr” Prize, “F. Donatoni” Prize) and has received several commissions, among which, recently, commissions from French Ministry of Culture, Divertimento Ensemble, Vortex Ensemble, Royaumont, Texture Ensemble. His music is performed in festivals as Archipel, Biennale di Venezia, Rondò, MiTo, Agora.

In 2008/2009 he follows the ‘Cursus en Composition et Informatique Musicale’ at the Ircam (Paris), where he will return in 2010/2011. In 2009/2010 he is composer in residence at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. In 2011/2012, Ghisi will take up a one-year appointment as composer in residence at the Académie française in Madrid.
With his piece abroad for soprano, ensemble and electronics, world premiered on 15th June 2011 at IRCAM’s Espace de Projections (as part of Agora Festival), Daniele Ghisi begins his collaboration with Casa Ricordi.
