Studies at the Hamburg Musikhochschule (composition, harmony, piano). Important compositional stimuli at the Darmstadt Summer Courses from 1958 (composition course with Karlheinz Stockhausen 1959), Bach Prize scholarship of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg 1966.
1969-95 music editor/manager at Hessian Radio (broadcasts, “Studio für Neue Musik”, concert organisation and Weekends). In the seventies, several collaborations with Dieter Schnebel (performances of “Choralvorspiele” and “Maulwerke”).
From 1989 founder and director of the concert series “Forum Neue Musik” at Hessian Radio.
1991 participant and prize-winner at the composition seminar “Stille Musik” (silent music) at the Künstlerhaus Boswil,
1997-99 president of the GMN, the German section of the International Society for Contemporary Music.
Lives in Frankfurt/Main.
